It’s important to remember that, sometimes, people who dedicate their lives to caring for others may need help themselves. Caring for a loved one can be a source of great personal satisfaction but it can also create its own set of challenges.
Unpaid carers save the NHS and social care system an estimated £162 billion per year, but, despite the value of their work, carers face many challenges. Caring can take a toll on physical and mental health, and lead to feelings of isolation. Our Carers often face financial instability, as they have to reduce hours or give up work to support their loved ones.
Over the winter, carers' finances are stretched even further due to cold and increases in utility bills. The cost of living crisis has further impacted our carers.
By donating, you can help to limit the challenges carers face in 2025.
Last year, with your donations and additional funding from National Lottery, London Community Foundation and Lambeth Youth Opportunity Fund, we were able to provide additional support to carers in the winter and through the cost of living crisis. This allowed us to support more carers by providing a listening ear, information and signposting and wellbeing activities.
Additionally, we issued 172 cost of living vouchers to young carers and 126 to adult carers. These vouchers could be used to buy food, clothing, sanitary supplies and more.
This year, we need your help to continue to meet increased demand for our services.
Your donations will help us support more carers and their families through these difficult times. We will be able to show how much we appreciate all the hard work that these unsung heroes do everyday.
We want to ensure that carers feel valued and cared for.
By donating, you can help us further this essential work and ensure more of Lambeth's Carers are supported this Winter.
