Carers Rights Day 2022

Every year, Carers UK runs this awareness event. This Thursday, the 24th, they want to highlight the cost of caring.

"Caring Costs in so many ways. It could be the cost to unpaid carers’ wellbeing and ability to access health services. Sometimes it’s the financial costs associated with looking after someone – or the effects on carers’ employment options. Taking care of someone may cost carers the quality of their relationships, through not being able to take time out to spend with friends and family or through changes to the relationship with those they care for. And the current cost of living crisis is being felt even more acutely by carers throughout the UK."

At Carers' Hub, we want to ensure that all carers are aware of their rights and the support available.

We have organised several events across this week to help carers to access more information, including a Coffee Morning, Q&A with Social Care Workers and a GP, and a Young Carers Quiz Night.

We have also organised a large outreach event at Brixton Library, where many local organisations will be there to chat and offer advice. The event runs from 18.00-20.00 on Thursday 24th November. It is suitable for Adult Carers (18+) and the Parents of Young Carers. Refreshments will be provided throughout the evening.

In addition, we have prepared two guides to your Rights and Carers Assessments in Lambeth. One for adults, the other for young people.
